Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking an instructor to provide 32 to 40 hours per week of instruction and end-to-end management for a tattoo artist apprenticeship program serving up to six incarcerated individuals. The program covers professional tattooing, disease prevention and sanitation, art and design, equipment and technology, tattoo techniques, supervised practice, customer service, shop operations, professionalism, and post-release career preparation. The contractor must be an actively practicing professional tattoo artist with at least three years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, current OSHA-compliant Bloodborne Pathogen certification, and the ability to supervise apprentices. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans and competency assessments, delivering classroom and hands-on instruction, maintaining equipment and records, supporting licensing and regulatory compliance, managing apprentice progress, providing staff training, submitting monthly and final reports, and engaging tattoo-industry partners. Subcontracting is prohibited. The contract has a two-year base term with three optional one-year renewals.
