Description
Klamath Falls City Schools (KFCS) is applying for a grant to support youth exiting the Juvenile Detention Education Program (JDEP) and Long-Term Care and Treatment (LTCT) facilities. The grant will fund a part-time Transitions Coordinator (2 hours per day for 179 days) to conduct exit surveys, monitor academic and attendance progress, provide goal-setting support, connect students to community resources, and attend graduations. Additionally, an administrator or designee will work 20 extra days annually to participate in biweekly detention facility meetings, attend court hearings, report academic progress to the court, assist with FAFSA and college applications, and strengthen partnerships with community organizations. Remaining funds will be used for academic assessments and curriculum aligned with traditional school settings. The plan addresses needs identified in the district's comprehensive assessment, including improving attendance, supporting reentry, and expanding CTE pathways.
