Description
The University of Tennessee is seeking qualified general contractors through a Best Value Option One Request for Qualifications for construction services at the UTK Art & Architecture Building. The project includes replacement of exterior clerestory windows, curtainwall and storefront systems, curved acrylic glazing, and curtainwall/storefront doors; masonry and structural remediation; asbestos abatement; concrete and deteriorated steel repairs; new gutters, downspouts, and access equipment; and related demolition and surface protection. Interior and systems work includes painting and touch-up, rough carpentry, joint sealers, electrical wiring and raceways, receptacles, motorized window actuators, door hardware, and fire-alarm relay integration for atrium smoke-control windows. The building will remain occupied during construction, requiring substantial scaffolding and equipment. The qualification proposal must be a single searchable PDF of no more than 25 pages, excluding covers, submitted without pricing. Short-listed proposers will later be invited to bid. The estimated construction cost is $3,112,000.
