Description
The City of Mitchell is seeking a qualified historic preservation consultant for the planned demolition of the former First National Bank at 626 Main Street. The consultant must be listed on the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology Qualified Professionals roster, with preference for firms listing architectural research, assessment, documentation, reporting, identification, evaluation, survey, and inventory services. The scope includes surveying and documenting the building and its character-defining features; preparing salvage recommendations and a reuse and storage plan; developing a salvage plan for City and State Historic Preservation Officer review; researching the building, historic district, and McGuire & Shook; preparing the text, layout, images, and map for an interpretive plaque; and revising both deliverables through required review. The consultant must provide relevant qualifications, similar project experience, references, staff resumes, a project manager, proposed approach, and timeline. No fee should be included in the statement of qualifications. Demolition drawings, physical removal or moving of salvaged items, storage costs, plaque fabrication and installation, and ongoing tracking after approval are excluded from the scope.
