Description
The City of Huntsville is soliciting a fixed-price contract for comprehensive towing and related services for its vehicles and equipment. The scope includes light-, medium-, and heavy-duty towing; towing of outdoor power equipment, tractors, and backhoes; vehicle storage; lockouts; jump starts; spare-tire installation; temporary lighting and air; debris and spill cleanup; and related recovery services. Services must be available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, including holidays, with responses within one hour inside the city limits. The contractor must maintain a business within 25 miles of the City's Fleet Services facility and provide specified wreckers, rollbacks, tow dollies, and off-road recovery equipment. Bidders must complete the pricing, compliance, bidder information, ownership, federal compliance, and equipment documentation included in the solicitation, including photographs and specifications for required towing equipment. The contract has an initial one-year term and may be extended for two additional one-year terms. A bid bond is required at five percent of the total bid price, despite the cover page's conflicting statement that no bid bond is required; the solicitation also requires insurance, including general liability, automobile liability, workers' compensation, employers' liability, and potentially umbrella liability coverage.
