Description
NASA is offering exclusive or nonexclusive license rights, potentially limited to specific fields of use, for its Universal Modular Interface Converter (UMIC) technology. NASA provides no funding and does not manufacture products for commercial sale. The UMIC is a lightweight, modular, bidirectional AC/DC power converter designed to connect a 120 V DC space power bus with a medium-to-high-voltage, three-phase AC grid and enable long-distance power sharing between sources and loads. The system includes parallel converter modules, transformers, power stages, gate drivers, FPGA-based controllers, output filtering, sensing, thermal management, flash memory, and a controller area network transceiver. The architecture is adaptable to different voltages, frequencies, control logic, and communications systems, with potential applications in lunar or Mars surface grids and large space stations. Interested companies must submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS).
