Description
The City of Ellsworth Public Works Department is soliciting bids for 10,000 cubic yards of usable winter sand. The base bid requires the contractor to excavate minerals and mechanically screen material at the City Gravel Pit on outer Main Street, furnish all required equipment and labor, and separate the material into specified sand and rock piles. The sand must meet the stated sieve gradation requirements. The City will provide its loader and dump trucks for hauling and will mix the sand with salt. Bidders must provide separate pricing for on-call screening from January through April 2027, with work beginning within 48 hours of notice. Alternate pricing may be submitted for 10,000 cubic yards of already-screened sand, either delivered to the Public Works sand pile or loaded into City trucks at the source. Alternate bids require the material source or pickup location, recent gradation test results, availability and loading information, and any delivery or pickup restrictions. The submission also requires pricing, vendor certifications, equipment, staffing, schedule, insurance evidence, a current W-9, and a signed bid sheet.
