Description
The project replaces Lot Norton Bridge #3754 carrying East Side Road over Knowles River in Addison, Maine. The selected contractor must remove the existing pipe arch and construct a 20-foot-span by 16-foot-rise precast concrete box culvert, including tapered sections, toe walls, culvert bedding stone, reinforcement geogrid, stabilization and separation geotextiles, streambed special fill, and void-filled riprap. The work also includes excavation, lightweight foamed glass aggregate fill, roadway grade raises and approach reconstruction, hot-mix asphalt paving, guardrail and end treatments, pavement markings, erosion and sediment controls, drainage and ditch protection, traffic control, utility coordination, cofferdams, dewatering, and regulated in-water work. The project is in a tidal setting and includes hydraulic and flood-resilience requirements addressing storm surge and projected sea-level rise. In-water work must occur during the specified July 1–March 14 work window and behind cofferdams, with temporary fills removed and affected areas restored. East Side Road may be closed for up to 90 consecutive days, and the contract completion date is November 12, 2027. The solicitation requires paper or electronic bidding as permitted by the Notice to Contractors, with bid documents including the bid forms, schedule, amendment acknowledgment, bid guaranty when required, DBE bidder information, and other certifications due at bid opening.
