Description
Jefferson County seeks New York State-licensed funeral directors to provide on-call removal and transportation of deceased persons from locations throughout the county to the Samaritan Medical Center morgue. Services must be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with arrival generally required within one hour of the dispatcher's second notification. Contractors must provide two staff members per removal, suitable non-hearse vehicles, stretchers, personal protective equipment, and other necessary supplies; the county supplies body bags, bag locks, and identification tags or bracelets. When the county Medical Examiner is unavailable, the contractor may also transport decedents to and from the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office, Guthrie Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, or another designated institution. Proposals must include a statement of qualifications, staff information and resumes, a current New York State funeral director's license, and at least three references. Pricing is requested per removal within the county, per loaded mile outside the county, and for waiting time. The initial term is three years, with two possible one-year renewals.
