Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is soliciting construction services for the reclamation of an abandoned coal strip mine and abatement of acid mine drainage at State Game Lands 332. The project includes clearing and grubbing, diversion and care of water, dewatering impoundments, approximately 1.2 million cubic yards of grading, diversion-channel and ford-crossing excavation, stream relocation, rock lining, erosion and sediment controls, seeding, mulching, and construction surveying. Contractors must supply and apply approximately 61,200 tons of agricultural limestone and up to approximately 135,000 tons of beneficial ash. The passive treatment scope includes wet-seal tie-ins, an H-flume, Agri Drain Smart Drainage Systems, a terraced iron formation channel, holding and settling ponds, auto-flushing vertical-flow ponds, a Jennings-type vertical-flow pond, an aerobic wetland, and a dewatering basin, with associated piping, liners, geotextiles, treatment media, spillways, and outlet protection. The estimated contract amount is greater than $5,000,000, and the stated duration is 720 calendar days. The successful bidder must comply with federal Davis-Bacon wage requirements, Buy America requirements, Pennsylvania labor and worker-protection requirements, and applicable environmental permitting conditions.
