Description
The Detroit Transportation Corporation is requesting information from qualified firms regarding the design and construction required to convert the existing Detroit People Mover Renaissance Center Station into a stand-alone structure before demolition of the Renaissance Center. The anticipated scope includes elevator, escalator, stair, accessible passenger, weather-protection, and passenger-amenity improvements; relocation of the existing elevator mechanical room; electrical, mechanical, lighting, security, communications, and fire/life-safety systems; integration with existing Detroit People Mover infrastructure; construction sequencing; roof replacement; and preservation, protection, and relocation of existing artwork. Respondents are asked to provide relevant rail-transit and similar-structure experience, a recommended technical approach, design and construction timelines, a preliminary non-binding budgetary estimate broken down by major component, project risks and assumptions, an artwork-preservation approach, and a recommended project-delivery method. This RFI is for market research and planning only and will not result in a contract award; the agency may use responses to develop a future request for proposals.
