Description
The Bureau of Justice Assistance, within the U.S. Department of Justice, is seeking applications for the FY 2026 Special Attorneys Program. The program will fund eligible state, local, Tribal, and territorial prosecuting agencies to assign or hire qualified prosecutors as Special Attorneys or Special Assistant United States Attorneys, including full-time or case-by-case part-time assignments. Funds may also support criminal investigators, analysts, forensic accountants, and other staff who collect or analyze law-enforcement investigative information. Supported personnel may investigate and prosecute fraud and other crimes committed by aliens in the United States, as well as drug or human-trafficking offenses, in coordination with federal prosecutorial authorities. The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement, with awards ranging from $0 to $3,000,000 and no cost-sharing requirement.
