Description
The City of Mason is seeking a qualified attorney or law firm to serve as City Attorney and provide ongoing municipal legal services. The scope includes advising the City Council, City Manager, and staff; preparing and reviewing ordinances, contracts, resolutions, bonds, and other legal instruments; prosecuting ordinance violations; handling litigation and other legal proceedings; advising on legal developments; and providing counsel on municipal governance, employment, labor, zoning, land use, real estate, procurement, elections, economic development, utilities, infrastructure, and related matters. The selected firm must provide its own office facilities, personnel, technology, supplies, and administrative support. Proposals must describe the firm's qualifications, Michigan municipal experience, assigned attorneys and staff, availability and responsiveness, conflicts of interest, at least three recent or current municipal references, professional liability and workers' compensation insurance, and proposed fees. Firms may propose hourly rates, a monthly retainer with hourly rates, or an alternative or hybrid fee structure. The City Attorney will be appointed for an indefinite term under an at-will contract terminable by either party with at least 90 days' written notice.
