Description
Albany County is seeking a contractor to prepare and provide hot, cold, frozen, and shelf-stable meals for eligible residents age 60 and older enrolled in the Home Delivered Meal Program. Meals must meet specified nutritional standards, including at least one-third of applicable dietary reference intakes for one meal, comply with USDA and New York State nutrition requirements, and follow approved menus, standardized recipes, food-safety procedures, and dietary guidelines. The contractor must develop menus for approval, provide emergency shelf-stable meals, maintain required kitchen and food-service capabilities, and hold applicable health, fire, food-preparation, and catering licenses or approvals. The contractor must provide weekday delivery to seniors' homes throughout Albany County, including weekend meals delivered in advance when applicable. The scope includes delivery vehicles and trained drivers or volunteers, client wellness checks, emergency and undelivered-meal procedures, outreach to underserved populations, staff training, nutrition education, reporting through the statewide client data system, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Proposals may cover one geographic zone or a combination of zones. The initial contract term is January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2027, with two potential one-year renewals.
