Description
The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is seeking qualified small businesses for the replacement of the primary indoor direct expansion air handling unit and matching outdoor condensing unit in Experimental Hall C. The scope of work also includes the installation of a maintenance platform for servicing the indoor unit and updated Building Automation System (BAS) controls. The existing system is suspended approximately 75 feet above the finished floor inside Experimental Hall C. Sophisticated material handling, to be performed by Barnhart Crane and Rigging using a specific method, will be necessary to remove the old unit and install the new one. Due to the work being performed at height and inside Hall C, a strong emphasis will be placed on worksite safety and precise project coordination with Jefferson Lab staff and subcontractors. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000. The anticipated schedule includes solicitation posting around June 18, 2026, subcontract award around August 1, 2026, mobilization around September 1, 2026, and substantial completion no later than December 31, 2026.
