Description
This solicitation is for aerial herbicide application services to control and eradicate target vegetation, including red maple, sweet pepperbush, and poison ivy, within managed forest stands in the southeastern part of the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Suffolk, Virginia. The work areas are located in the Blocks, with spray units ranging from approximately 630 to 970 acres. The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all necessary equipment, labor, and materials for the herbicide application, which will be conducted by rotary-wing aircraft (helicopter). The application period is during the late growing season, with all applications to be completed by September 30, 2026. The contractor must use approved herbicides, such as Habitat and Methylated Seed Oil, or their equivalents, and adhere strictly to product label instructions, manufacturer's guidance, and contract requirements. A minimum of 95% coverage of targeted areas is required. The contractor must also comply with all safety and licensing regulations, including possessing a valid Virginia commercial herbicide applicator's license. A site visit is scheduled for June 22nd and June 29th, 2026, and attendance is required as part of the technical evaluation.
