Description
The Fashion Institute of Technology is soliciting bids for comprehensive facade repairs at Kaufman Hall. The work includes repairs to south, east, north, and west facades; brick repointing and reconstruction; window sill, lintel, shelf-angle, terra-cotta, and structural-steel repairs; steel balcony removals; window sealant replacement; waterproofing; overhead protection; engineered enclosure systems; scaffolding; site safety planning and supervision; permits; testing; debris disposal; and related temporary facilities and protections. Existing steel coatings are to be assumed to contain lead, requiring containment, worker protection, air monitoring, disposal, and compliance with applicable regulations. The project is planned in two overlapping phases, with Phase I focused on the south and east facades and Phase II on the north and west facades. The solicitation requires a completed bid package, bid analysis and pricing forms, non-collusive bidding certification, contractor references, bid security, financial information, applicable licenses and certifications, proof of business history, subcontracting percentages, and a two-year audited or reviewed financial report. Subcontracting is permitted up to 30 percent of the project cost. The bid requires a 10 percent bid bond or a certified check for at least 2 percent of the total bid price, and performance and labor-and-material payment bonds of 100 percent of the contract price are required after award.
