Description
The USDA Forest Service, Black Hills National Forest, is soliciting quotes for the decommissioning of 16 water wells and 1 cistern located on the Mystic and Custer Ranger Districts in South Dakota. The work includes sealing wells in accordance with South Dakota administrative rules and codified law, removing aboveground improvements such as concrete slabs, steel casings, pumps, and bat gates, and restoring disturbed areas with native seed mix. The contractor must be a South Dakota licensed well driller and must comply with environmental protections including avoiding wetlands and streams, working during frozen or dry conditions, and implementing erosion control measures. The project also requires the preparation and submission of well plugging reports to the SD Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The period of performance is from September 30, 2026, to July 31, 2027.
