Description
The National Park Service is soliciting a small-business general contractor to construct a new one-story North Unit Visitor Center at Badlands National Park. The approximately 17,176-square-foot facility will include an entry atrium, exhibit spaces, a bookstore, administrative offices, educational spaces, public restrooms, paleontological and wet laboratories, mechanical and electrical systems, fire protection, communications, security, and associated building systems. The work includes foundations, drilled piers, precast concrete wall panels, structural steel, cold-formed steel roof trusses, roofing, glazing, interior finishes, casework, signage, utilities, paving, parking and circulation improvements, landscaping, stormwater systems, and related site work. The base bid is the visitor center and associated site work, with options for east and west shade structures and a concrete monument sign at the east entry drive. The estimated construction magnitude is $10 million to $20 million. The contract is firm-fixed-price, with a 730-calendar-day period of performance from issuance of the notice to proceed. Amendment 0003 extends the bid deadline to November 3, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Central Time, incorporates final Q&A responses and an addendum, and requires acknowledgment of the amendment. The solicitation remains a competitive 100% small-business set-aside and requires a bid guarantee of at least 20% of the aggregate base-plus-options bid price, capped at $3 million, as well as payment and performance bonds after award.
