CITY OF SOMERVILLE PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTING SERVICES DEPARTMENT INVITATION FOR BIDS IFB #27-10 The City of Somerville, through the Procurement and Contracting Services Department, invites sealed bids for: On-Call Plumbing Services A bid package may be obtained online at: https://www.somervillema.gov/departments/finance/procurement-and-contracting-services or from the City of Somerville's BidExpress page at http://www.somervillema.gov/BidExpress on or after: Wednesday, Sep- tember 2th, 2026. Sealed responses will be received at the PCS Depart- ment, Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Somerville, MA, 02143 or via Bid Express until:2:00 pm, Thursday, September 16th, 2026. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to reject any or all proposals if, in her sole judgment, the best interest of the City of Somerville would be served by so doing. Description
The City of Somerville is soliciting bids for on-call plumbing installation, repair, maintenance, and emergency services at various city-owned buildings and facilities. The scope includes sanitary facilities; domestic hot- and cold-water systems; hot-water generation equipment; booster and recirculation pumps; commercial kitchen connections; grease-trap, clay-trap, and drain cleaning; backflow-prevention devices; water fountains; restroom fixtures; main drain lines; sump pumps; roof drains; gas, propane, laboratory, and compressed-air piping systems; winterization; and related auxiliary equipment. The contractor must furnish labor, tools, equipment, parts, materials, estimates, permits, and support for larger multi-trade projects. Emergency calls must be acknowledged within one hour, with personnel arriving within two hours; non-emergency calls must be acknowledged within two regular business hours. The estimated annual parts-and-materials budget is $75,000, and the estimated construction cost is $225,000 per year. The contractor must be available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, hold or employ a Massachusetts Master Plumber, maintain DCAMM plumbing certification, provide licensed personnel and CORI documentation, comply with OSHA 10-hour training and Massachusetts prevailing-wage requirements, and submit at least three relevant municipal references. Subcontracting requires prior written approval from the Department of Public Works.
