Description
The City of Seattle is soliciting a lump-sum public-works bid to replace the sports lighting system at Magnolia Playfield. Work includes demolishing and hauling existing wooden floodlight poles and fixtures; testing and properly disposing of potentially treated poles and contaminated soil; installing new poles, shielded LED sports lights, conduit, wiring, junction boxes, receptacles, electrical panels, circuit breakers, lighting controls, and pole foundations; and restoring affected concrete, asphalt, turf, and infield areas. Tree pruning and extensive tree, vegetation, soil, public-safety, and waste-management protections are also required. The project requires a complete UL-listed sports-lighting system meeting Seattle and DarkSky criteria for spill light, glare, uplight, illuminance, controls, and energy performance. The contractor must provide product and engineering submittals, including lighting calculations, aiming diagrams, control-system documentation, sealed foundation designs where applicable, and operation and maintenance information. A bidder or subcontractor must document at least one athletic-field lighting project of at least 60,000 square feet completed within the past five years, including comparable demolition, pole, LED-lighting, conduit, wiring, panel, and lighting-control work. The engineer’s estimate is $1,219,433.60, and the contract requires substantial completion within 100 working days and physical completion within 120 working days after the Notice to Proceed.
