Description
King Conservation District, in partnership with King County, is seeking a qualified consultant or consultant team to lead and manage a comprehensive local food value chain coordination program in King County. The work is intended to strengthen relationships among producers, buyers, distributors, processors, institutions, restaurants, retailers, food hubs, hunger-relief organizations, and other market partners; improve farm viability and market access; expand local procurement; and address barriers affecting local food sales and purchasing. The scope includes market development and relationship building; individualized technical assistance for producers and buyers; coordination of food-system organizations and market infrastructure; collaborative problem-solving related to aggregation, distribution, transportation, packaging, logistics, and market access; and communications, performance tracking, quarterly progress and expenditure reports, and an annual report. Applicants must submit an executive summary, organizational overview and experience, project team and roles, responses addressing the local food system and proposed approaches, three relevant professional references, a completed work plan template, and a completed budget template with a budget narrative. The requested amount may not exceed $150,000 for an initial one-year period, with possible renewal for up to five consecutive years at the district's discretion. Overhead, administrative, and indirect costs may not exceed 25% of salaries and benefits.
