Description
The University of Kentucky, through Walsh Turner JV III, is soliciting a competitive-negotiation subcontractor for BP 014.05, Pneumatic Trash & Linen, for the Expand Patient Care Facility. The selected subcontractor will provide preconstruction assistance, preconstruction services, construction, commissioning, and close-out services for a pneumatic trash and linen system serving the planned healthcare facility. The scope includes BIM and constructability coordination, lean construction and prefabrication planning, estimating, value management, scheduling, procurement planning, installation, testing, startup, safety and quality administration, record documents, operation and maintenance manuals, an as-built BIM model, and owner training. The proposal must include pricing for the base pneumatic tube system, including load stations, equipment, control panels, monitors, collection boxes, compressors, discharge units, fans, scrubbers, diverters, WYE branches, tubing, sound attenuation, roof curbs, general conditions and requirements, and a project technology allowance calculated as 0.15% of the bid value. The submission must also address labor rates, staffing, subcontractors and suppliers, qualifications, past performance, detailed estimates, construction-phase fees, and written responses to the requirements in Section 4. Alternate pricing is requested for 3,600 reusable linen bags and other proposed enhancements. A separate payment or performance bond is not required; the project will use Subcontractor Default Insurance.
