Description
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking a contractor to clear deciduous and coniferous trees across up to 42 acres at the Hummel Tract of the Heendah Hills Wildlife Area. Work includes mechanical and hand cutting, treatment of deciduous stumps with contractor-supplied undiluted Triclopyr 4 or a generic equivalent with dye within 10 minutes of removal, and piling removed trees in locations pre-approved by Missouri River Unit staff. Steep areas may require chainsaws, straps, and winches, and the project requires a tractor or skid loader and at least two chainsaws. The contract is a six-month initial term with no annual extensions, with a tentative start date of October 14, 2026, and work due by March 30, 2027. Actual acreage will depend on the per-acre bid and available project funding. Quotes are evaluated on price among responsible and responsive bidders. The successful contractor must maintain specified general liability, automobile liability, workers' compensation, and employer liability insurance.
