Description
The Sunshine Coast Community Forest is seeking proposals for prescribed wildfire-risk-reduction fuel treatments covering 30.1 hectares across Treatment Units 1 and 4. The work may be awarded as one project or split by treatment unit, but proponents must price the units as separate projects. Scope includes hand and mechanical surface-fuel management, removal of dead standing trees, thinning of understory conifers less than 12.5 cm DBH, and pruning retained conifers to a 2-metre crown-base height. Treatment Unit 4 also requires trail-user management, trail closure maps, signs and barricades before commencement, remediation of trail damage, coordination with the designated site-maintenance partner, and compliance with restrictions in an old-growth management area and Work Avoidance Zone. Construction noise must comply with the District of Sechelt Noise Bylaw. The estimated contract period is five months.
