The South Dakota Department of Transportation is soliciting proposals for comprehensive cleaning and caretaker services at the single-site Homestead Interstate 29 rest area at milepost 26.6. Responsibilities include daily restroom and building cleaning, litter and trash management, lawn mowing and grounds care, sidewalk maintenance, snow and ice removal from designated areas, picnic shelter and pet exercise area upkeep, recycling-bin servicing, water-system and sewage-lagoon monitoring, and annual deep cleaning. The contractor must also perform specified minor plumbing, electrical, kiosk, and video-surveillance-system maintenance; furnish required vehicles, mowing and snow-removal equipment, fuel, parts, and other equipment; maintain required records; and provide personnel on duty daily. The contract term is two years beginning November 1, 2026, with proposals evaluated on cost, experience and reliability, personnel expertise, availability, and familiarity with the project locale.
