Description
Metra is soliciting bids for a four-year, time-and-materials contract to provide as-needed interior construction services at its headquarters. The scope includes general carpentry, office-space demolition, building repairs, painting, flooring installation and repair, interior and exterior window improvements, window-blind installation, marble restoration, and door improvements. The contractor must provide supervision, labor, tools, equipment, materials, permits, insurance, bonds, transportation, debris removal, and related services. Emergency response must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with service within two hours of notification; normal work is generally performed during weekday hours. The contract has a not-to-exceed value of $5,000,000, with estimated labor and material quantities used for evaluation rather than guaranteed purchases. A 15% DBE participation goal applies, and the prime contractor must perform at least 30% of services with its own forces. Bidders must demonstrate at least five years of comparable high-rise office construction experience, provide three references, employ qualified journeymen, and comply with asbestos-awareness, OSHA, building-code, safety, prevailing-wage, and other applicable requirements. A 5% bid bond is required; payment and performance bonds each equal to 100% of the contract price, along with specified insurance, are required after award.
