The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is soliciting bids for an elevator modernization performance and reliability assessment. The contractor will review and assess existing elevator modernization work and elevator systems for conformance with original scope, approved submittals, and applicable codes (A17.1/CSA B44). The evaluation includes verification of installed components, installation practices, and operational performance over a 150-day period. Specific tasks include measuring door speeds, door open/close times, car speeds, floor-to-floor times, and using specialized tools like EVA-625 accelerometers. The contractor will also review ancillary systems (hoistway, electrical, life-safety, security access) and provide a written report identifying incomplete work, poor workmanship, estimated corrective costs, and recommendations for improved performance. The contract is for a one-year base period with no options. Bids are due June 30, 2026, and must be submitted electronically via the CHA Supplier Portal.
