Description
The Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services is conducting a one-time sale of an estimated 3,765 pounds of lead-containing equipment used for radiation shielding, including thyroid shields, lead aprons, lead skirts, removable drapes, vests, and lead canisters from decommissioned medical laboratory equipment. The advertised quantity is 3,000 to 6,000 pounds, sold by the pound, with a minimum bid of $0.01 per pound. The material has been surveyed and certified free of detectable radioactive contamination, although purchasers remain responsible for lead-safety, environmental, transportation, licensing, recycling, and regulatory requirements. Bidders must submit the completed and signed SF 114 and SF 114A by email, and the highest-priced responsive bid from a responsible bidder is expected to receive the award. The purchaser must provide appropriate licenses, permits, facilities, transportation, and material-handling equipment; arrange removal and recycling or processing; obtain required insurance; and remove the material within 30 calendar days after notification. Subcontractors may be used with government approval, but the purchaser remains responsible for the contract.
