NASA's Micro-g NExT program invites undergraduate student teams at accredited U.S. higher-education institutions to design, build, and test a tool or device addressing an authentic, current space-exploration challenge. Proposals must describe the design, requirements compliance, manufacturing plan, operations and testing plan, safety considerations, hazard analysis, functional and safety testing, technical references, and planned industry and community engagement. The proposed hardware will be tested in NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, where students direct professional divers from the Test Conductor Room. Each proposal must contain Technical, Industry and Community Engagement, and Administrative sections. The Technical section is limited to 12 pages and must include an abstract, design description, manufacturing plan, operations plan, safety and hazard analysis, testing and analysis, and references. Teams must also submit a concept video pitch as an unlisted YouTube video, CAD files in IGES or STP format, an institutional endorsement letter, supervising-faculty statement, funding and budget statement, and other applicable administrative materials. Parental consent forms are required for participating team members under 18 who will travel to Houston; rights-of-use statements and logo files are optional or conditional as described in the guidelines. Proposals are submitted electronically through NASA STEM Gateway by October 27, 2026.
