Description
The South Dakota Department of Transportation is soliciting proposals for comprehensive maintenance and caretaker services at the Spearfish single-site interstate rest area on Interstate 90. Work includes daily cleaning and disinfection of restrooms and buildings; litter, trash, recycling, picnic-area, lawn, native-grass, tree, shrub, pet-area, sidewalk, and seasonal maintenance; snow and ice removal from designated walkways; sewage-lagoon, cistern, chlorination, and water-supply monitoring; and annual deep cleaning. The contractor must also perform specified minor plumbing and electrical repairs, monitor and make minor adjustments to the kiosk and video-surveillance system, maintain required records and inspections, provide necessary vehicles, mowing and snow-removal equipment, and furnish labor and routine equipment needed for performance. The proposal must address the required work approach, point-by-point compliance, options or alternatives, experience, personnel qualifications, and cost. The contract term is two years, from November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2028.
