This opportunity involves maintenance dredging in three sections of the Lower Kennebec River, Maine, to ensure adequate depths for newly constructed surface combatants being built and tested at Bath Iron Works. Approximately 80,000 cubic yards of clean sand will be dredged, including 30,000 cubic yards of required material and 50,000 cubic yards of overdepth material. The work will focus on the Doubling Point area (approximately 61,000 cy), the Popham Beach area (approximately 10,000 cy), and a new area in Bath Reach (approximately 9,000 cy). Dredging at Doubling Point will reach an elevation of -32 feet MLLW plus 2 feet of overdepth. Dredged material from Bath Reach and Doubling Point will be placed in an in-river disposal area north of Bluff Head. Material from Popham Beach will be placed at the Jackknife Ledge West Disposal Site. The entire dredging and placement operation is expected to take 3-4 weeks to complete within the work window of December 1, 2026, to February 15, 2027.
