Description
Royal River Conservation Trust (RRCT) is soliciting proposals for three distinct trail improvement projects at Intervale Preserve in New Gloucester, Maine. These projects, funded in part by a Maine Trails Program grant, include the rehabilitation of approximately 0.46 miles of a multi-use trail, the improvement of a 105-foot path to a hand-carry boat launch on the Royal River, and the upgrade of a 0.5-mile trail and adjacent area to Universal Access standards. Additionally, a new 6-car gravel parking lot will be constructed. The scope of work is divided into three components: the Interurban Multi-Use Trail, the Warbler Trail (including Universal Access upgrades and parking lot construction), and the Route 231 Water Access Trail. The Interurban Trail rehabilitation involves addressing erosion and waterlogging by reshaping, regraveling, and compacting the trail surface, and installing drainage measures. The Warbler Trail upgrade requires construction to meet Forest Service Trail Accessibility Guidelines (FSTAG) standards, including a 5-foot wide treadway and appropriate surfacing, along with the construction of a 6-car gravel parking lot with two accessible spaces. The Water Access Trail improvements focus on creating a safer and more accessible path to the Royal River, including infiltration steps, a crushed stone footpath, granite steps, and riprap stabilization at the water's edge.
