Description
The Town of Skowhegan's Highway Department is soliciting sealed bids for a new four-wheel-drive front-end loader with a dump bucket. The solicitation offers the option to lease the loader for either 5 or 6 years, with the ability to purchase it outright for $1.00 upon completion of the lease term. The loader must be the manufacturer's latest model and meet all listed functions and options, including specific tire, fender, counterweight, and hitch requirements. Detailed specifications are provided for the engine, cooling system, powertrain, axles, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, operator station, frames, structures, and buckets. The Town expects to award the bid based on its purchasing policy, but will also consider delivery date, parts support, service capabilities, and dealership experience. Bidders must submit two copies of their bids in sealed envelopes, plainly marked "Loader Bid", and addressed to the Town Manager at 225 Water Street, Skowhegan, Maine 04976. Late or facsimile bids will not be accepted. Bids will be publicly opened on July 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Town Hall, with a potential award at the July 14, 2026 Selectmen's Meeting, contingent on the June 8, 2026 Town Meeting Vote.
