Description
The University of Victoria is soliciting a contractor to modernize two existing hydraulic passenger elevators, identified as elevators #43 and #44, in its Business and Economics Building. The work includes new elevator controllers, hydraulic power units and control valves, hydraulic piping and isolation components, door operators and safety devices, traveling cables, car and hall operating fixtures, position indicators, voice annunciators, emergency communication equipment, seismic features, and related wiring. The scope also includes renovation of cab interiors, flooring, lighting, ventilation, handrails, tactile markings, and protective pads; electrical subcontract work; fire-alarm interfaces and elevator recall functions; testing, commissioning, regulatory inspections, documentation, special tools, and maintenance. The bid must include an electronic bid bond equal to 10% of the tender price. Performance and labour and material payment bonds, each equal to 50% of the contract price, are required after award. Construction is not to start before December 18, 2026, with substantial completion established for June 18, 2027. A one-year warranty maintenance period is required, followed by a separately priced renewable five-year maintenance option.
