Description
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is seeking quotes for the eradication of invasive plants across 61 acres within Compartment 4 of Nye-Holman State Forest in Tolland, CT. The treatment areas are accessible from Patten Road and the Nye-Holman Archery Range Trail parking lot. The successful vendor will be required to traverse the forest on foot and/or UTV to selectively apply herbicide to target plants, primarily Japanese barberry and multiflora rose. Proposed treatment times are summer/fall of 2026, with a follow-up treatment in spring/summer of 2027. The project requires a minimum of 95% control of invasive plants, with specific treatment intensities (High, Moderate, Low) detailed across 40, 14, and 7 acres respectively. The use of imazapyr products is prohibited. Vendors are requested to post signs daily advising users of ongoing herbicide application and must carry general liability insurance.
