The USDA Forest Service is soliciting quotes for Timber Stand Improvement (Crop Tree Release) services on approximately 100-224 acres located on the Clinch Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests, in Scott County, VA. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, equipment, supervision, tools, and incidentals to perform four-sided crown-touch release treatments according to the technical specifications. The period of performance is from August 17, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Key technical requirements include achieving a "free-to-grow" rating of 4 for selected crop trees, with specific guidelines on which trees to release and which to cut. Hazard ribbon is required for unsafe-to-fell trees, and all slash must be removed from road prisms without piling or windrowing. Work will be inspected by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), with final acreage to be determined by FS Two Trails mapping in July-August 2026. Award will be made on a best-value tradeoff basis, prioritizing successful previous completion of similar work on the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests, knowledge of Southern Appalachian tree species, COR evaluations, contractor rating database information, and price.
