Description
Long Beach Community College District is conducting a two-phase design-build competition for replacement of Building B at the Liberal Arts Campus. Phase 1 seeks prequalification responses from design-build entities; shortlisted firms will later receive an RFP for final design-build proposals. The project includes hazardous-material abatement and demolition of the existing Building B and portions of Parking Lot I, followed by construction of a new approximately 43,100-gross-square-foot, multilevel academic facility designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and exceed current energy-code performance by at least 15 percent. The facility will include flexible classrooms, specialized laboratories, administrative offices, collaboration areas, study lounges, and event spaces supporting Fashion, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Anthropology programs. Scope also includes utility upgrades, low-impact-development stormwater measures, ADA and EV-ready parking reconfiguration, a gateway feature, outdoor learning and gathering spaces, lighting, wayfinding, safety, high-performance mechanical, electrical, plumbing, audiovisual, information-technology and security systems, rooftop photovoltaic support, and expanded EV charging. The selected entity must provide design services through construction documents, coordinate required State Chancellor's Office submissions, and obtain Division of the State Architect and other agency approvals. The stated design-and-construction budget is $56,000,000.
