Description
This project, Phase 2 of the City of Prince Rupert Overland Watermain Replacement, involves installing approximately 400 meters of 762 mm diameter DR11 HDPE watermain. The new watermain will extend from the existing Phase 1 infrastructure to the future Fern Passage underwater crossing. Key components include tie-ins to the Phase 1 watermain, installation of a valve chamber, and a discharge headwall with an energy dissipation structure at the shoreline. Additional work encompasses installing cross-drainage culverts at identified watercourse crossings, demolishing existing infrastructure such as portions of a steel watermain and thrust blocks, and performing construction activities like clearing and grubbing, excavation, trenching, drilling and blasting, pipe and culvert installation, and fill placement. The alignment traverses steep, forested terrain with slopes up to 60 percent and is in close proximity to the marine and intertidal environment.
