Description
Des Moines County Conservation, acting through the Des Moines County Conservation Board, is soliciting proposals for one or more bid items covering forest resiliency work at Big Hollow Recreation Area, Hickory Bend Conservation Area, Hunt Woods, and Starr's Cave Park and Preserve. The scope includes mechanical invasive-species removal, herbicide and foliar treatments, mid-story thinning, crop-tree release, site preparation, and planting approximately 6.5 acres of bottomland hardwoods. Contractors must furnish the labor, supervision, equipment, fuel, herbicides, planting stock, and incidental materials needed for awarded work. The solicitation includes 12 base bid items and three optional Starr's Cave items. Proposals may cover any combination of bid items, and different items may be awarded to different contractors. Contractors must demonstrate comparable experience, adequate personnel and equipment, applicable Iowa pesticide licenses for herbicide work, and the ability to comply with Iowa DNR technical plans, environmental and species-protection requirements, and insurance requirements. A completed Bid Sheet, qualifications and experience, references when available, licensing information, subcontractor disclosures, exceptions or assumptions, and evidence of insurance ability must accompany the proposal. A certificate of insurance may be submitted with the proposal or before contract execution.
