Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires a widely tunable laser system with fast laser frequency modulation electronics for quantum sensing technology development. The laser must cover the wavelength range of 750 nm to 790 nm without mode hops and include built-in frequency stabilization capabilities. Fast Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) detection electronics are also required to enable laser linewidth reduction and improve measurement precision. The laser controller must feature an interactive digital screen for mode selection, parameter setting, and visualization of optical resonances. It must also be capable of controlling the PDH electronics and locking to spectral features. The system requires a single mode, polarization-maintaining fiber-coupled output and must allow simultaneous operation of coarse and piezoelectric motion stages for wavelength tuning. NIST intends to award a sole source contract to Toptica Photonics for their CTL 780 with PDH Module, citing unique technical requirements and market research indicating no other vendor can meet these specifications.
