Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires a Ring and Core Laser System to enhance their Fundaments of Laser-Matter Interaction (FLaMI) testbed. This system is intended to advance research in metals-based additive manufacturing by providing high-quality data on laser-matter interaction physics. The upgrade aims to keep NIST at the forefront of additive manufacturing technology and innovation. The system must meet specific optical and electrical characteristics, including a nominal maximum output power of 1500W, an emission wavelength of 1070nm+-10nm, and a beam quality (M2) of less than 1.1mm. The laser should be CW/Modulated capable, with a power modulation rate up to 100kHz. It must also be rack-mountable and controllable via RS-232, Ethernet, or analog input. Delivery is to be FOB destination within 15 weeks of order receipt. NIST is a controlled-access facility, requiring delivery personnel to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The system will undergo inspection and acceptance testing at NIST's Gaithersburg, MD facility. The contractor shall provide a standard commercial item warranty.
