Description
Interior Health Authority is seeking expressions of interest from farmers interested in leasing and operating 8.229 acres of agricultural land. The lease term is to be negotiated, with commencement between January 1 and April 1, 2027. The land must be used for a permitted farm use under the Agricultural Land Reserve Use Regulation and in a manner compatible with the surrounding residential neighbourhood. Respondents must submit a letter identifying the respondent and contact person, acknowledging the stated requirements, specifying the desired minimum lease length, describing proposed farming activities and the respondent’s agricultural operations experience. Proposed activities should address crop types, business plan, irrigation method, fertilizer, and any structures. The lessee will be responsible for operating expenses and improvements, including irrigation systems; structures require written approval from the Agricultural Land Commission, the City of West Kelowna, and Interior Health. The lease term remains subject to negotiation, and the RFEI may lead to a later competitive evaluation process.
