Description
The City of Tallahassee is soliciting proposals from qualified entities to operate and manage the Griffin Heights Healthy Food Store at a newly constructed approximately 2,400-square-foot facility with an outdoor pavilion. The selected operator will enter into a minimum five-year lease, operate a community-focused grocery store, and provide fresh produce, meats, dairy, canned and dry goods, household essentials, and other approved grocery items at affordable prices. The store must accept SNAP, EBT, WIC, or similar food assistance programs and maintain convenient daytime operating hours. Respondents must demonstrate at least five years of grocery retail or related experience, including experience serving communities with limited access to grocery stores or fresh food. Proposals must address the operating model, staffing and local hiring, supplier and inventory strategies, product mix, affordability and freshness, community engagement, pavilion programming, and alignment with the Griffin Heights Neighborhood First Plan. The City will provide up to $80,000 in grant funding for approved build-out improvements and is offering a five-year lease with annual rent of $1.
