Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Business-Cooperative Service is seeking applications for Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program Phase 3 Round 2 grants supporting processors of invasive, wild-caught catfish. Eligible projects may include constructing or purchasing facilities, renovating or expanding existing facilities, purchasing or upgrading processing and manufacturing equipment, improving food safety and environmental controls, upgrading packaging and labeling equipment, and providing project-related staffing or training. Applicants must currently process seafood or wild-caught catfish for commercial markets, have been in business for more than one year, operate or plan to operate under a USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service grant of inspection, plan to increase processing capacity at an existing facility, and operate in a state with an aquatic nuisance or invasive species management plan that includes catfish. Applications must include federal forms, a project narrative, environmental information, a business plan, financial records and projections, resumes, and applicable design, construction, community-support, or Tribal-consent documents. Grants range from $50,000 to $2 million, may cover no more than 80 percent of total project costs, and require at least 20 percent cost sharing.
