Description
Jackson County Department of Transportation is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to mine approximately 17,500 cubic yards of 23A gravel and 7,500 cubic yards of 3/4-inch by 1-inch natural stone from the Behling Road pit. Materials must comply with current Michigan Department of Transportation specifications and are subject to stockpile testing and inspection. Bidders must provide a proposed work plan, pit management plan addressing environmental impacts and site rehabilitation, stockpile plan, work schedule, major equipment list, firm qualifications, and three current customer references. The contractor must furnish labor, machinery, tools, and equipment; comply with applicable zoning, environmental, mine-safety, and other regulations; and complete the work by October 31, 2027, unless otherwise approved by Jackson County. The resulting contract may be extended through the CoPro+ cooperative purchasing program to other Michigan municipalities. Current certificates of insurance are required with the bid, including workers' compensation, commercial general liability, and motor vehicle liability coverage.
