Description
South Dakota State University is requesting proposals for custodial services at its approximately 44,000-gross-square-foot Metro Center. The contractor must provide labor, supervision, management, and personnel to maintain auditoriums, classrooms, computer laboratories, clinical spaces, conference rooms, huddle spaces, entrances, elevators, hallways, lobbies, and vending areas in accordance with specified APPA cleanliness standards. Routine services include weekday daytime and evening staffing, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, floor care, restroom and consumable support, trash and recycling removal, glass cleaning, dusting, carpet extraction, light snow removal to keep entrances clear, changing lightbulbs, and related inspections and reporting. The scope also includes emergency custodial response at an hourly rate, staffing continuity, background checks for assigned employees, uniforms or identifying attire, and monthly invoicing. SDSU clarified that daytime custodial coverage must total at least five hours while students are in the building; the 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. schedule is preferred but alternatives may be proposed. SDSU also clarified that it will not require submission of background-check results or proof of completion. The university will provide custodial equipment, cleaning supplies, consumables, building access, and basic personal protective equipment. Proposals must include an RFP form, executive summary, detailed technical response, cost proposal, and information on at least three similar prior or current contracts; owners' prior professional custodial experience may support this requirement for newly established companies.
