Description
The Capacity Building Grants for Non-Land-Grant Colleges of Agriculture Program supports NIFA-certified public colleges and universities that offer baccalaureate or higher degrees in agricultural sciences, forestry, or both. Projects may strengthen education, research, outreach, or integrated activities addressing food, agriculture, renewable resources, and related disciplines. Eligible activities include curriculum and instructional-material development, scientific instrumentation and other equipment, student recruitment and retention, experiential learning, faculty professional development, research and outreach programs, graduate assistantships, and collaborative initiatives. Building alterations, repairs, renovations, and construction are excluded, and tuition scholarships or tuition-remission activities are not allowable. Applicants may submit planning activity/workshop, standard, collaborative-joint, or large-scale comprehensive initiative proposals. Grant durations range from 24 to 48 months, depending on grant type, with maximum awards of $30,000, $150,000, $300,000, and $750,000, respectively. Approximately $5,700,000 is available, with an anticipated 20 awards. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov, and no matching requirement applies. Required application materials include the federal application forms, a project summary and narrative, bibliography and references, applicable appendices, a mentoring plan when stipends or fellowships are proposed, a data management plan, leadership support, collaborative-arrangement documentation when applicable, senior/key-person profiles, a budget, and supplemental information.
