Description
The United States Air Force is soliciting a small business to perform a geotechnical investigation at the B618 Fuselage Trainer. The work includes two 20-foot soil borings, drilling and sampling, borehole abandonment with cement-bentonite grout, surveying of final boring locations and elevations, surface patching, and compliance with applicable USACE safety and geotechnical requirements. Drilling and sampling must occur in the presence of a USACE geotechnical engineer, with continuous Shelby-tube sampling through 20 feet of expansive clay when encountered. The contractor must provide laboratory testing for swell or collapse, liquid and plastic limits, plasticity index, moisture content, water pH, and residual chlorine, using a USACE-validated geotechnical laboratory within 100 miles of the job site in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Deliverables include core samples within 25 days after contract award and a survey report with boring logs and field and laboratory data within 40 days after contract award. A schedule with estimated completion dates is also required.
