Description
The National Weather Service (NWS) requires a prefabricated metal or fiberglass building, approximately 8x10 feet with a minimum 8-foot ceiling, to house a VHF 1000-watt transmitter with electrical components. This structure will replace an existing shelter that needs to be removed prior to installation. The contractor will be responsible for site preparation, including demolition, debris removal, permits, and foundation work. The building must feature a commercial-grade steel exterior door, a sloped roof, and provisions for cable attachment. Technical requirements include a grounding halo, bus bars, and a 4" PVC pipe bulkhead for antenna cables. The interior will need a plywood-finished wall for mounting electrical and communication gear, a 100-amp electrical panel, and an HVAC system capable of maintaining temperatures between 50°F and 85°F. The period of performance is 120 days after Notice to Proceed, with an anticipated award date of July 8, 2026.
